To support these beliefs we have demonstrated our commitment by extending support to the environment as well as extending support to less fortunate and disadvantaged individuals.

Friendship Society for the Blind

As part of the company’s annual Corporate Social responsibility initiative in the holy month of Ramadan, Al Hilal Life employees visited the Friendship Society for the Blind, which is a center that specializes in caring for children with full or partial visual impairment. Habib Jaafar, Zainab Abd Ali, Abbas Fadhel and Aalaa Haji interacted with the children whose ages ranged between 3 and 10, through fun games and distribution of prizes. They also handed out to each child gifts and sweets in “Gerga’oun” bags.

 

When asked about their experience, Zainab said that “I very much enjoyed this visit, and I hope that more people would volunteer in such centers to make the children happy.” As for Habib, he mentioned that “it was an enlightening experience, and it reminded me to be thankful for the simple things that I take for granted every day.”

NBB Rehabilitation Home for Disabled Children

As part of the company’s annual Corporate Social responsibility initiative in the holy month of Ramadan, six of Al Hilal Life employees visited the NBB Rehabilitation Home For Disabled Children, which is a center that specializes in caring for children with mental and psychiatric disabilities. The employees participated in oil painting with the residents of the center, whose ages ranged between 15 and 40. They also distributed sweets and savories in “Gerga’oun” bags. All volunteers felt that it was a great experience, and it was rewarding to put a smile on their faces. One mentioned that “it makes you appreciate what you have, and reminds us to be thankful for the simple things in life that we take for granted every day.” Head of the center Ms. Zainab Al Halwachi and the rest of the management team thanked Al Hilal Life for the donation and for their engaging visit, and wished the company all the best in its future CSR events.

Down Syndrome Care Center

On Thursday June 16 2016, Al Hilal Life employees visited the Down Syndrome Care Center as part of the company’s annual Corporate Social responsibility initiative in the holy month of Ramadan. Six employees participated in pottery painting with the children at the center. They also spent some quality time chatting with some of the students and teachers. All volunteers felt that it was a great experience interacting with these children and it was rewarding to put a smile on their faces. During the holy month of Ramadan in 2015, six employees from Al Hilal Life visited the NATIONAL BANK OF BAHRAIN HOME FOR ELDERLY as part of the company’s ongoing Corporate Social responsibility initiative. The employees participated in activities with the elderly men and women of our society, which ranged from fun questions about Bahrain’s heritage and culture, to pottery painting. They also spent some quality time chatting with some of the seniors and engaging in light conversations.

 

Similarly, during the last week of Ramadan in 2014, six employees from Al Hilal Life visited AL KAWTHER SOCIETY FOR SOCIAL WELFARE, a Bahraini civil society specialized in providing comprehensive development to orphans through various programs. The employees spent time crafting art with several talented children, and talked to them about their hopes and dreams for the future.

BAHRAIN CANCER SOCIETY: a USD 250 donation was made by Al Hilal Life in 2014 to the Bahrain Cancer Society, following an incentive to increase company survey participation by offering a donation to a charity of employees’ choice given that the minimum participation rate was met.

As part of the ongoing support to THINK PINK BAHRAIN, Al Hilal Life held two internal competitions in October 2013; an office design presentation and bake sale both under the breast cancer awareness theme. This was followed by a lecture from Ms. Julie Sprakel (Think Pink Bahrain Founder and Chairwomen on breast cancer awareness and the importance of BSE). The internal sales from staff who participated in the bake sale generated over USD 350 in less than an hour. Similarly, a pink-themed day was carried out in October 2014 with the aim of it being to raise money for breast cancer awareness. In October 2015, Al Hilal Life organized a “Think Pink” and “Movember” themed brunch for its staff, where female employees dressed in pink while male employees dressed in blue. Group pictures were taken using props that express support for the awareness of such critical illnesses, and self-exam leaflets (provided by Think Pink Bahrain) were distributed to the women employees. A donation box was also circulated among all staff who were more than happy to contribute over USD 370 for the cause.

CHILDRENS ONCOLOGY CENTER, SALMANIYA MEDICAL COMPLEX: During July 2013, in celebration of the mid of Ramadhan, a group of six employees from Al Hilal Life visited the Children within the Oncology Ward 202 of Salmaniya Medical Complex. Al Hilal Life is strongly dedicated to the health and education of the youth.
